Do you want to take a lead role in your child’s autism remediation?
Do you want to address the root cause of your child’s challenges and not just the symptoms?

If you have answered yes to these questions, then Relationship Development Intervention (RDI™) is the right autism remediation program for you. Learn more about RDI >>

Parents are the most important people in their children's lives. It's through this special parent-child relationship that children learn how to communicate effectively, empathize, form meaningful relationships and deal with the daily challenges of life. Every day interactions like giving your child a bath, reading, playing a game of chase or washing the car together provide the foundation for all social, emotional and cognitive learning.

But this learning doesn't happen very easily when you have a child with autism. Regardless of your child's abilities, all children on the autism spectrum have information processing difficulties that make it difficult for them to absorb these critical and foundational skills.

The RDI™ Program will help you:

  • Build a stronger connection with your child
  • Address your child’s developmental gaps that cause challenges in daily life
  • Build the foundations necessary for your child to make and maintain friendships
  • Develop your child's flexibility and problem solving skills
  • Manage/resolve difficult behaviours

How I work with parents:

Assessment – At the beginning of your RDI™ Program, I will assess your child`s strengths and challenges as well as identify early gaps in his or her development. I will also assess the dynamic between you and your child as you guide him or her though a series of activities.

Consultations – Through bi-weekly consultations, I teach you how to manage your child's specific obstacles and create an optimal learning environment so you can move his or her development forward.

Assignments – I give you manageable assignments that include video taping interactions with your child and uploading short clips to a private and secure online system. This enables you to share successes and continue to receive feedback and support in between our sessions.

Developmental Objectives – I will teach you how to use daily living activities as a way to help your child build competence in these areas:

  • Communication
  • Flexibility
  • Behavioural & emotional regulation
  • Self-awareness
  • Friendships
  • Problem-solving
  • Collaboration

Can I work with you long distance?

Yes, I often work with families located outside of the Greater Toronto Area via telephone and online conferencing technologies like Skype. This is also a convenient option for local families whose busy schedules prevent them from meeting regularly in person.

I can also travel to your home to conduct assessments and “RDI™ intensives” where I spend a few days with your family. This gives me a greater understanding of your family dynamic and how I can best support you in implementing your RDI™ program.

Do you work with groups?

Yes, I offer a six-week “Intro to RDI™” group course that is available online and in person. This provides a cost-effective way for you to see if RDI™ is a good fit for your family before committing to the program. Please contact me with your availability (preferred day and time) and I will let you know when the next course is starting.
